Pairs (Paranormal Activity Investigation and Research) was set up to investigate and research the paranormal. We are interested in all paranormal and spiritual phenomena, hoping to find answers to the unknown and the unanswered. Our values at PAIRS are that we treat any entities we encounter with the upmost respect and use analogue and digital equipment to record our findings. We do not intend to invoke spirit or antagonise them by using spirit boards or other tools to bring out what is not already there; as we believe that improper use could potentially cause harm to spirit and location.
There are so many groups out there that are more interested in the entertainment value, neglecting to dedicate their time on the actual paranormal investigating, losing the true integrity and purpose of the job. In our investigations we will use tools to try and capture evidence, but all tools used are non-invasive, such as audio/video recording devices and EMF detectors etc.
Here is a list of some of the tools we will use and why:
Video recording
We use analogue video recorders as well as digital, to try and capture any apparitions or activity during our investigations. Some of the recorders we use have night vision capabilities (infrared), full spectrum (infrared and ultraviolet) and thermal imaging (heat detection).
The reason we use different visual spectrum video equipment, is because there is more chance of capturing paranormal evidence if we record outside just the visible spectrum.
We use thermal imaging for similar reasons, but we also use it to detect any heat anomalies that could cause things that are perceived to be paranormal but are not
Audio Devices
We use audio capturing devices to try and capture EVP’s (Electronic Voice Phenomenon). EVPs are voices from spirit that sometimes can’t be heard with our ears, and it is only during playback of the recording that we can detect them. If we do get any response from any questions we ask, will determine if it is an intelligent spirit.
EMF detectors
We use EMF detectors (Electro Magnetic Frequency) to see if there are any changes to electromagnetic frequencies in the location. Because of electronic devices (such as alarm clocks etc.) and faulty wiring, it can cause high fields of energy, which can make a person feel nauseous, agitated or cause them to hallucinate. It is also believed that spiritual entities can interact with EMF detectors, giving more credence and evidence to our findings.
Barometric and Thermocouple devices
We use barometric devices to record air pressure measurements for documenting the atmosphere in a location. We also use thermometers for temperature changes. Sometimes spirit activity can affect the temperature of an area making it feel colder is certain areas
